I know he's only 20 and have only been at AAA for a short time, but do they really think it's wise to give good value for a third baseman just to give Devers more seasoning at AAA? Now if they can get someone like Nunez on the cheap that's a different story.

Because a player that comes up for the first time carries a lot of risk. He could hit like Aaron Judge...the problem is, if it's the Aaron Judge of 2016, that's a big problem.

If I were in the Red Sox shoes, I'd assess how big of an upgrade I need at 3B. I'd probably come to the same conclusion they seem to be coming to - they just need a player who will be decent at the plate and in the field, and having some playoff experience is a plus.
I'm just here for the baseball.

Moncada kind of shat the bed his first go-round, too. .211, .253 SLG, 12/1 K/BB etc....Only 19 at-bats, yes...but still, hey might be nervous about that history.

I've read that his glove isn't close to being ready. That's probably a big part of it.

          That would explain it.
