  • trading for votto

I was offered Votto, Kuroda - shallow yahoo league
    for
    Morneau, Hamilton

    umm - no thank you

but he is willing to trade Votto

    who do you like better
    Votto or Mornea?
    how about
    Votto/Tabata for Morneau/Hamilton
    Votto/Markakis for Morneau/Hamilton

any of those sound remotely interesting

he does have kinsler and then I could get rid of Kelly Johnson

I think I wouldve taken the Votto/Kuroda offer. Youre getting the best player by far.

All the offers you list with Votto , I prefer the Votto side. He is a top 3 player and while Hamilton is first rounde material when healthy, he is rarely healthy.
After former Broncos quarterback Brian Griese sprained his ankle and said he was tripped on the stairs of his home by his golden retriever, Bella: “The dog stood up on his hind legs and gave him a push? You might want to get rid of that dog, or put him in the circus, one of the two.”

I like Votto much more than Morneau. OTOH, I don't give up Hamilton for Kuroda to get him. I'd prefer Markakis in the above deal, and you'd probably be more likely to get him right now.
I'm just here for the baseball.

I agree. Votto is the best player in the pool listed. And for what it's worth, I think we've seen the worst of Kuroda.

omg dude take it. Morneau is on meds. Morneau is one concussion away from being done. Morneau is not hitting like Morneau.

Votto is insane. Votto is on meds for his head too. but only cause he's edgy. Votto may be the best player in MLB.

that said, i alway own Morneau and have never had Votto.

Hamilton's nice. brittle, but nice... my theory is Hamilton is the anti-Kemp. whenever Hamilton has a good year Kemp has a bad one. and when Kemp has a good year Hamilton has a bad one. and this year Kemp is having a good year.

lol. but seriously Morneau may never be the same. your turning down the best player in MLB for 2 guys that might not even be playing this year.

here is where we stand today

              I get
              Joey Votto
              Maicer Izturis
              Jose Tabata

              I give
              Justin Morneau
              Chone Figgins
              Josh Hamilton

I had proposed the deal with infante instead of figgins

do I hold out? the ceiling on figgins seems high (or does he just stink?)

I love that deal for you. I think it's likely that Figgins just stinks.

agreed. If thats his offer to you, dont hesitate to take it. Tabata is way more valuable than Figgins.

I too would've jumped at the first deal you posted and wouldn't drag negotiations out too far unless you KNOW your trade partner is extremely patient and willing to negotiate exclusively. I've seen many times where an owner dealing the biggest stud in a trade finally grows weary of tweaking a deal, complains to a sympathetic league mate about his difficulties moving stud X, and ultimately trades him to the sympathetic ear. At some point your partner might just say I can't waste any more time with this, I was offering Votto .... Joey frickin Votto, and move on. If you are in a keeper league you might regret not jumping all over this next time Morneau bumps his head and Hamilton breaks any of the 100+ fragile parts on his body.

You mightve just gotten the best fantasy player of 2k11. Nice job.

                          My own Votto opportunity:

                          NL-only 12-team 5x5

He's offered lame duck Votto and Billingsley 29.
I'd give Bailey 2, Loney 20 (throw-in), Strasburg 5-O in 2012, DGordon 5-S2 upon arrival pre-Sept some year, Randall Delgado ditto terms, and my June pick (likely 11th or so).

If too much, by how much is it off? I intend to say I'll just give him Cousins 1 instead of Loney 20, who doesn't matter much to him this year or next. Still too much?

OR, I may have a cheaper deal:
I get Fielder 44 for farmhands Gordon and Delgado, plus throw-in Cousins 1.

Give up Gordon, Delgado and Cousins either way.
So in effect I could get Fielder, OR get Votto and Billingsley by also adding Bailey 2, Strasburg 5-O in 2012 (or 10-L2 in 2012 and 15-L1 in 2013), and my late first-round June farm pick.

                          Better off with Fielder, then?

Am in 2nd place in a race that is 92 to 84.5 to 79 to 79 to 69 and so on.

Lead in Ws by 8 (29-21) over runnerup.
2nd in K, 3rd in ERA, 4th in Ratio, 11th T in SV but only 4 SV out of 7th.

Lead AVG by 16 pts (.284-.268) over runnerup, 3rd in RBI, 4th in R, 7th in HR, 9th in SB.

Famously/infamously last year swapped, in mid-May, farmhands Posey 10 and Stanton 5 for Halladay 44.

Kept Halladay and glad I did. Lost pennant on final weekend. Determined to rebuild this year, but.....

3rd-place owner just added a lame-duck Josh Johnson and 1-unit ATorres for Stanton 5-S1, Luebke 1-S1, farmhand Devin Mesoraco (5 when up), and a June pick (likely 10th or so).

                            DONE

got him to flop Loney for Cousins
and he doesn't get the June pick

so I get: lame duck Votto and Billingsley 29-S2 (pricey)

I gave Bailey 2, Cousins 1, Strasburg (5-O in 2012 or 10-L2 in 2012 and 15-L1 in 2013), DGordon 5-S2 upon arrival pre-Sept some year, and Randall Delgado ditto terms.

Huge upside for him, big 2011 boost for me. high stakes.
