I'm in a 10-man snake tonight and if he was still around by round 11, I'd be tempted....
Yeah, that seems about right. At this point, I think we can only expect 150 IP IF HEALTHY. But remember, he was pretty mediocre last year, so if you're going to get 150 IP of last year's Price, that's probably not worth it either.

Agree- what's to lose? In a 10 team league there will be loads of talent on the waiver wire. You have to shoot for upside.

In larger leagues I'm avoiding even past this point in the draft because I can't afford to take a blank. But to win a small league you have to hit big, there's no point in taking a lot of mediocre safe picks. Might as well take a chance.

he dropped to the 14th round, so I took him.
In fact, lots of injured players dropped...I couldnt avoid them.
        Price-14th
        Kipnis-15th
        Matz-18th
        Desmond-20th

We have two DL slots and 5 bench...

Wow, I'm surprised how far Desmond fell. Reports only have him out for like a month.

I like the Price and Desmond buys in those rounds. I'm pretty much out on Matz entirely, especially when you already have several other injured players.

Agree - that's a case of people crossing them off their lists entirely just because he's injured.

A broken hand is one of those injuries that will sap power. When I broke my hand, any touch or vibration to it and the pain was excruciating. I can't see how he's hitting 95 mph baseballs in a month. Using my experience, I'd say he's not up to speed until the Break, and who knows if he'll be able to drive the ball much afterwards. I hope I'm wrong, but I can understand why many were scratching him off their lists entirely.

I haven't had the misfortune of breaking my hand, but doesn't it largely depend on the type of location of the break? I know hand breaks can be tricky for batters, but there are lots of different types of breaks, which, I assume, is why we have seen some hitters out for several months with them, and some come back and play ok after just several weeks.

                      and to the DL.

In the best of times, our days are numbered, anyway. And it would be a crime against Nature for any generation to take the world crisis so solemnly that it put off enjoying those things for which we were presumably designed in the first place, and which the gravest statesmen and the hoarsest politicians hope to make available to all men in the end: I mean the opportunity to do good work, to fall in love, to enjoy friends, to sit under trees, to read, to hit a ball and bounce the baby.

David Price could resume playing catch by Monday or Tuesday. "I don't think this is anything compared to what he went through in spring training in terms of severity," manager John Farrell said. "That's by his own admission."

                            That sounds like good news.
