  • Minor League Pick

I have 1 minor league pick left in a H2H Dynasty 5 x 5 cats league. Keep forever with no salaries/contracts. The top 5 I'm considering are

    1. Kyle Tucker
    2. Yadier Alvarez
    3. Franklin Barreto
    4. Corey Ray
    5, Ronald Acuna

Would appreciate any thoughts on who you would draft?

I would go with Ray or Tucker
After former Broncos quarterback Brian Griese sprained his ankle and said he was tripped on the stairs of his home by his golden retriever, Bella: “The dog stood up on his hind legs and gave him a push? You might want to get rid of that dog, or put him in the circus, one of the two.”

I like Barreto. A .280+ 10+hr 20sb guy who probably ends up at 2B has a lot of value. They are all good picks and you can't really go wrong. Acuna and Ray have higher ceilings.

Ray or Acuna...Baretto seems to have a little of the dog in him.

Probably Ray, but Alvarez is going to be a superstar.

I'd go Alvarez or Barretto. As a Brewer homer, I'd love to tell you Corey Ray is the guy, but I think his tools point to good (not great) and he may be blocked for a while. Brinson is in front of him for sure, Brett Wallace may be.
I'm just here for the baseball.

I really like Kyle Tucker's upside. nice frame, excellent bat to ball skills. Good speed. Power should come.

                    Tucker
                    Alvarez
                    Barreto/Ray
                    Acuna

All are quality players and it's a nice "problem" to have.

I think Tucker has the highest upside in this group as he has the power/speed combo. Alvarez has an electric arm but is still trying to harness his control. Barreto has a good hit tool, but does he have as high of a projected ceiling as these other prospects? I think both Barreto and Ray project to have the same power. Barreto's probably the closest to the majors right now. Acuna is enticing, but probably the furthest away (19 years old).

The way I listed them was how I was leaning. Appreciate all the responses, it has given me food for thought.

Acuna for me. A lot of people are slow to jump aboard the train due to some missed time from him LY but that's the top talent on your list followed by Tucker.

Ray comes in 3rd for me

Interesting that the two of us had similar thoughts when you got varied responses.

Probably. The one advantage to taking a closer to the bigs player is we only get 3 minors guys so being able to cycle through them with the ability to deal them to prospect hounds is advantageous. Twice a year if you have an open spot by trading or promoting a guy, you get to replace him with another pick. Currently have Brendan Rodgers and Shoei Ohtani
