If Jeter is done, does that mean we've already buried Posada? Seriously, should I just drop Jorge? Or should I start a new thread?

Nah, not yet. At least all Georgie has to worry about is hitting.

        but what about his intangibles?

          don't look now, but Jeter's hitting .284 with 2 HRs, 19 R, 10 RBI and 2 SB.

Listening to the game last night it sounds like Kevin Long has spent a lot of time with Jeter getting him back to a different swing.

He has also spent time with ARod on reducing his step. Apparently, he was overcompensating the step since he was seeing off speed stuff and was getting beat on fastballs.

Full disclosure: I acquired Jeter for peanuts in two of my 3 leagues the last two weeks. Thanks fellers!
2 for his last 15. I love peanuts although I prolly shoulda held out for cashews.

The past 7 games, Jeter is 4 for 31 with 4 total bases. Man, that contract is looking GOOD!

hitting .253, xBA of .242 and the sample size isn't as small anymore. 72 OPS+, and this isn't Ozzie Smith on defense.
on pace for about 8 HR and 48 RBI - and that only if he faces Dave Bush in Texas in three more starts.

if those peanuts you gave away were fresh, you may rue those deals.
finished 10th in this 37th yr in 11-team-only NL 5x5

                      won in 2017 15 07 05 04 02 93 90 84

Good thing OPS+ isn't a fantasy category! :beavis:

He's still on pace for almost 100 runs and probable double digit HRs and SBs. Didn't he do that last year?

I would be SHOCKED if he reached double digits in HR (he has homered in exactly one game all season) and mildly surprised re SB.

He will score runs, fair point. If he can finagle his way to .265 (has work to do there), he won't hurt you in AVG and will help in R.

If he gets 90+ runs, hits .265+ with 50+ RBIs and 8+ HRs/SBs, I'd be ecstatic. Plus, for my teams he replaced Reid Brignac and Chris Getz.

Funny thing going on in NY-area radio - and as with most "Jeter controversies," Jeter has nothing to do with it.

The top sports radio guy in the market, Mike Francesa of WFAN, of late has been mocking the level of adulation that Jeter has gotten as an "immortal," and Yankees fans are going apoplectic.

For instance, Francesa notes the obvious - that of Tiger, Federer and Jeter doing a commercial together, one of these is not like the others (who did it alone). But that's not accepted.

Many callers claiming that Jeter is a better all-around for his career than A-Rod. One guy even claimed that Jeter was a better defender in his prime than A-Rod (lol!).
Today, a Jeter backer did concede on A-Rod, but then asked about who was better for their career, Griffey or Jeter, he wouldn't give in. lol!
That same guy says Jeter is the best SS ever (Honus says hi, and yes, take away his 30 pct of games elsewhere and he'd still win).

Again, none of this poor Jeter's fault. But hoo baby..
