  • NL keeper decisions

It is early but I am thinking about trades. I have a lot of keepers after a re-building year and need to leverage my assets. NL only 5x5, 10 teams, $280 cap, 15 position, 10 pitchers. 5 minors who don't count against 12 keepers (Rosario, Tapia,McMahon, Meadows + #4 pick).

I have loosely ranked and there are a lot of candidates for 12th and last pick. B = 2nd of 3 year contract, F is option year unless * which indicates extended and guaranteed contract. Need to also decide on extensions.

    1 O. Herrera $1F or $6B*
    2. deGrom $13B*
    3. F Oh $5B
    4. A. Reyes $3B
    5. Ottavino $2B
    6. Piscotty $5F, 10B* or $15A*
    7. Realmuto $5F or $10B*
    8. Tomas $5F
    9. Suarez $5F
    10. Drury $5B
    11 [Panik $6F*

    12A: Gsellman $1B
    12B. Quinn $3B
    12C Folty $3B
    12D Jankowski $5B
    12E Conley $2F

    Almora $5B
    EJ Ramos $1B
    Vizcaino $2B
    Schelber $5B
    T. Anderson $5B
    Wheeler $2F
    M. Cabrera $3B
    AJ Cole $2B
    Susac $1B
    Altherr $6B
    D. Law $5B

Looking at your list, you seem to be a touch shy on speed, so Jankowski is an attractive option. Even if he doesn't get regular PT, he's probably good for 25 steals or so. Otherwise, I like Gsellman and his upside for a buck, he could get you a really nice profit.

      I like your top 8 and I'm OK with Panik's floor...that makes 9.

      Gsellman....it's only $1...keep
I think the remaining 2 depends on how spring shakes out.

Jankowsk would be tough to toss back to the pool with the SB he could give.
If Quinn make the team out of spring I like him better than Suarez
Drury depends on what other options AZ has as spring training winds down. Does he have a full time roll?

I definitely like Jankowski as your 12th keeper, but I would also look to move Suarez to keep either Quinn or Gsellman.

I'd keep Jankowski and Gsellnan and toss Suarez back in

I don't mind Suarez at all...for 5 bucks you get 20+ homers and 65+ RBI, some runs, and maybe double digit steals. That's pretty decent for an only league. Drury is the guy who may not have a position...

Eugenio Suarez. As Hornsby pointed out, well worth the $5 as he earned $15 per BBHQ.

Apologies. I had the wrong Suarez as well. I like Gsellman at a buck, but I'd keep Jankowski.

Per the extensions, I'd extend Herrera to 6, Piscotty to 10, and play out the others.

I'd try to make a deal, though I'm sure you already have. Suarez, Tomas and Drury are all basically the same guy. I'd rather have some diversity in those last few spots. Failing that, I'd keep Jankowski. I really like Gsellman, and if he's the kind of sleeper your league will pay $10 for, then maybe trade him or try to make room for him.
