  • I'm bored as well...thoughts on the #1 pick in the draft?

I've joined a Dynasty league (same one as GITH), and was lucky enough to pull the 1st overall pick in the draft. Now, it can be a major leaguer or a current minor leaguer, probably from last years draft. The major leaguers would likely be nothing more than spare parts, as the keeper list is quite large. So I'm leaning strongly towards a minor leaguer.

It's a H-H points league, so looking for a little input here. I'll throw out a few names, and if you have other suggestions, please feel free...TIA!

    Corey Ray
    Nick Senzel
    Mickey Moniak
    Leodys Taveras
    Mitch Keller
    A.J. Puk
    Jacob Groome
    Michael Gettys

Give me a little feedback, just an FYI, from casual observation so far, it looks like pitching dominates...but that's just an outside observation at this point.

I'd probably go with Senzel, who likely will be fast-tracked to the majors.

Senzel is who I traded up in RJEL for fwiw. Think the good Anthony Rendon profile in terms of double digit steals and HRs with strong AVG and OBP. Great American Ballpark is a great offensive environment so no reason he couldn't peak higher and as a college bat he has a very high floor.

Do you need the guy to be close to ML?

Not really, I'm looking for the highest ceiling at this point. I figure that I'm looking at good 3 year rebuilding project before I can realistically contend. Being a dynasty league, I want to stay in the hunt for a long time, not rebuild every 2-3 years as I tend to do in a roto keeper league. Here are some of the better players that I have, majors and minors.

              Byron Buxton
              AJ Pollock
              Yasiel Puig
              Wilson Contreras
              Hanley Ramirez
              Nelson Cruz

              Jorge Alfaro
              Rafael Devers
              Ian Happ
              Daz Cameron
              Kyler Tucker (in a trade)
              Bradley Zimmer

              Carlos Martinez
              Carlos Rodon
              Joe Ross
              Jameson Taillon
              James Paxton (trade)
              Dellin Betances (holds count)
              Ken Giles

              Kolby Allard
              Brady Aiken
              Michael Kopech
              Francis Martes
              Kyle Zimmer (Lottery Ticket)
              Jorge Lopez

Top ten that should be eligible on my list are, in order:

                - C Ray
                - K Lewis
                - N Senzel
                - V Guerrero
                - M Moniak
                - B Rutherford
                - L Taveras
                - M Keller
                - A Puk
                - J Groome

Another tempting guy is Kevin Maitan.

Thanks guys, I'm leaning towards pitching, hitting seems to be fairly easy to come by in this league. Stars of course are different, but again, pitching looks like the gold standard.

TINSTAAPP. Gimme Senzel, or maybe Ray if you really don't like Senzel for some reason.
