Red Sox manager John Farrell said Wednesday that "nothing but positives could come" from a September promotion for top infield prospect Yoan Moncada.
And it sounds like Farrell is envisioning the 21-year-old taking on more than just a pinch-running, pinch-hitting type of role. Travis Shaw, Aaron Hill, and Brock Holt have failed to produce meaningful offensive numbers at third base and Moncada is batting .298/.411/.518 with 15 home runs and 45 steals in 105 games this season between High-A Salem and Double-A Portland. Ugh, my 10-team AL-only keeper team reaaaaaaally needs steals to either solidify 3rd place or have a chance at 2nd place but I'd rather not use up his 1st year of eligibility
