  • Have we ever seen value cratered via trade as much as Melvin Upton's

I mean, Jeeeeeeee-zus...this guy was heading toward a potential 20-25 HR/50+ SB season—he goes to Toronto and, bam, right into witness protection. Hate to say it since he was such a big, unexpected part of my first place finish in the 1st half of season, but he's borderline droppable now, if not long past dropping.

Have other Upton owners outright dropped him yet? He's not tradeable now, everyone with half a brain knows he's a part-time player now.
12-team mixed keeper. 6x6 (OBP, QS the extra categories).

i dropped him in two leagues.
After former Broncos quarterback Brian Griese sprained his ankle and said he was tripped on the stairs of his home by his golden retriever, Bella: “The dog stood up on his hind legs and gave him a push? You might want to get rid of that dog, or put him in the circus, one of the two.”

Traded him in my NL-only where we got to keep their stats (but since I was rebuilding I wouldn't have been able to keep him), dropped him in my 10-team mixed, emptied my FAAB for him in my 10-team AL-only (I'm last in steals).

I was afraid that any trade would mess with his psyche since he seems fragile that way. Going to the pressure of a pennant race in Toronto might be one of the worst situations he could've ended up in, especially since playing time isn't exactly guaranteed (he has been starting more often than not though).

Some saw this coming, there just wasn't room for him as a regular in that OF, and now he's back to being BJ again, striking out a ton and really providing no positive value with the bat at all. At least he got a hit today along with his 2 K's...

Melvin may have some value after all, as Bautista is back on the DL.
