Ha. As a Sox fan I hope Cashman overplayed his hand.

Rotoworld and everyone else, too. Sigh. Thought it'd be Feliz.

That was dreamed up trade that was never going to happen. Thats why it's called trade rumors. Nats did well not giving up much to to get Melancon. The funny thing about this trade is that he'll probably get the same results that they would have gotten if they traded for Chapman. Don't get me wrong Chapman is an elite pitcher but when it gets down to saving games both pitchers deliver.

Yeah, obviously, you'd rather have Chapman, but I'd take Melancon all day in this deal over that one. Again, the Cubs are the one team I'd give a pass on doing whatever it took to get the best option at their one position of need in their quest to win their first title since the invention of the vacuum cleaner. But yeah, for any other team, this is a way better deal.

              Chapman blew it today too.

Even though i knew Melancon was likely to be dealt, this deal is still a tough blow now that the reality of it all has set in. They lose not only an elite closer but a great guy as well. Pittsburgh fans, teammates, coaches, and media all love this guy. I'm starting to hate the Pirates ownership again. Washington is going to be so glad they got this guy with zero baggage instead of someone else. I wouldn't be surprised if they like him so much that they throw a bunch of money at him before he hits free agency in November.

I guess Papelbon's days in DC are numbered now.
