  • Which Players To Drop

Knebel was activated yesterday and I have Desclafani coming off the DL today. I have to drop two. I have James "killing me" Shields, Adam Warren, Jake Barrett and Jedd Gyorko. I'm thinking Shields and Gyorko. Which players would you drop?

There's no way I'd drop Shields. He had a 3.02 ERA and 1.29 WHIP before these last two maulings, so I'd bench him but not drop him.

Probably need a little more infor about your league parameters before giving any advice, because I'm not sure of the value of "Evil" Knebel and/or Jake Barrett.

I'd toss over Barrett and Gyorko. Gyorko looks like he's the last option on the bench right now.

Revo. Do you really feel Shields will turn it around. Going from pitching park in SD to Chi. What he did the last two games killed me as yes I started him in both games. The swear meter broke. I can bench him. We have daily line-ups so MR can be kept in the line-up with starters going to the bench.

Actually, US Cellular Field (5th best in Runs) has been one of the best pitcher's parks this season and for a 3-year period -- even better than Petco (19th best).

I'd hang onto him. Yes, I think he can turn it around.

          I'd chuck Knebel and Gyorko.

Shields' peripherals had actually been improving until the last two starts - he got off to a good start with bad peripherals, starting pitching better with less on the results, then two BOOMs. I wouldn't cut him, either; unless he's hurt, he'll rebound.

Gyorko, out. and Knebel is up against a deep bullpen crowd there. so he or Barrett go, but it hardly matters.

Not to hijack the thread but do you guys like Knebel or Thornburg as Jeffress insurance plus ratio help in a deep NL-Only?

As for the question, I'd ditch Gyorko and Barrett

Overkill - Knebel. Though he's second in line after Smith for sure.
