  • And Correa continues his mildly, quasi annoying season...

Carlos Correa was removed from Thursday's game against the Rangers with an apparent ankle injury. Correa appeared to roll his left ankle when he landed on the first base bag on a groundout in the top of the fifth inning. Jose Altuve moved from second base to shortstop and Tony Kemp entered the game at second. There should be a status update shortly on Correa, who finished the afternoon 1-for-2 with a walk.

Correa is on pace for 21 homers and 21 steals, anyone would have signed up for those stats if the name was left out. Did we expect more? Sure...I just don't know that it was realistic for a 21 YO kid...

Yes, but he's also striking out 25% of his plate appearances (vs. 18% last year), making less contact (75% to 81% last year), OPS down (.857 to .770) and he's already exceeded his multi-K games from last year. Weirdly, he's getting owned by LHP (.267 SLG, 0 of 8 HR)...but on positive side walks are up, OBP is up by a smidge. Still love the kid but it's just hard to see guys like Villar, Nunez, Diaz, Cozart outplaying him so far. Just hope this ankle thing doesn't slow him down too long.

X-rays on the ankle are negative. Sprained ankle and listed as day-to-day for now. I wouldn't be surprised if he eventually sees the 15 day DL. A sprained ankle is easy to re-aggravate if he tries to do too much too soon.

Considering he had an ADP of 1.06, I think many expected more from him. Heck, many pundits on the MLB Network were pushing his MVP candidacy this season.....

Hmmmm....seems like a good potential but low opportunity in any form of a keeper league.

Bingo. I'm a Correa owner (obviously, based on the whiny post title) and I've considered moving him in the right keeper package, so he could be had more easily now than ever.

And yes, THIS. He's not stinking up the joint by general standards, but again when you see no-names/journeymen like Villar absolutely blowing his doors off an early-mid-1st round pick/$30+ SS for the first 2+ months, it's just a bit frustrating.

would you Correa owners take C. Seager for him stright up in a keeper league? Or has he not fallen that far yet

I was considering a few packages that for me Seager for Correa, but there were some other parts that were slightly to my advantage, so while I doubt any Correa owner would give up 1-for-1, you might be able to get him if you throw in something slightly more enticing that the other guy needs. Seagar and a lower end closer if he needs saves and you're okay there, e.g.

No way. And the only league I don't have Seager in, he was kept. I reaaaaaLLLY like Seager. But in fantasy baseball terms, with Correa's clear SB advantage, I'd take Correa's stats in a second.
