  • Looking to 2017 and beyond in the AL

Unfortunately I have to wave the white flag in our AL 5x5 league. Can you help
me by ranking these trade targets? All will be option year unless noted and can be extended for $5/extra year.

    Francisco Lindor $8
    Jackie Bradley Jr $11
    Danny Salazar $5
    Carlos Correa $8
    Yu Darvish $7
    Miguel Sano $8
Xander Bogaerts $13 final year in 2017
Devon Travis $15 option year not until 2018
JD Martinez $20 contract through 2019
Mark Trumbo $22 option year not until 2018

    Thanks for your help!

    Correa

    JD Martinez
    Salazar
    Sano
    Lindor

    Bogaerts
    Darvish
    Travis
    Everyone else

If you think you can construct a team good enough to win next year, I'd move Bogaerts up.

Given Sano's perceived disappointing start, you may be able to still get him on the cheap.

I'd normally not rate a pitcher this high, but I think Salazar could be very dominant for the next 2-3 years.
I'm just here for the baseball.

I added the contract values, and extensions I would do.

Assuming prices go up next year, this is how I rank:

      Carlos Correa $23/3y
      Mookie Betts $18 through 2018
JD Martinez $20 contract through 2019
Xander Bogaerts $13 final year in 2017
      Danny Salazar $13/2y
      Francisco Lindor $18/2y
Mark Trumbo $22 option year not until 2018
      Miguel Sano $18/2y
Devon Travis $15 option year not until 2018
Yu Darvish $12/1y (pending 2016 results)
      Jackie Bradley Jr $16/1y

Very helpful. I forgot to list Mookie Betts $18 through 2018. Where would he slot in?

Wow. Top 2. Give the edge to Correa as a SS but it's pretty much a toss-up with the lower price.

I think that you'd be nuts not to add Sano to the top 3 targets at that price. 10/25/23 in a season where he's slumping while learning a new position is not anything to dismiss.

I think people are severely underrating an $8 Sano's value. Virgo has him at $18 instead of the $8 you list. Maybe that's the reason.

Correa is the very clear top target and it's not particularly close at all.

The last group is pretty fungible. I would not target Trumbo in a rebuild.

Edit: Oh, Virgonomic added contract prices. I wouldn't do that yet because there's still a lot of baseball to be played this year and things can change pretty dramatically in a couple months.....injuries, suckitude, etc.
I had to do it to get my mind around it. This year's prices were too distracting. I like Trumbo in Baltimore for a couple years.

Fair point. He's a stud and I think he will figure things out.
