Dump trade

I was in the hunt until my pitching went south the past few weeks (team in sig).

The first-place owner is dangling a $1 AJ Reed (1 year keepers, so 2017 only).

He needs pitching, so I threw Eovaldi and Walker out there. He offered:

CPerez 6 Reed 1 Ventura 14
for
BMcCann 20 Gray 25 Eovaldi 7X

He also has Trumbo 20 and Rasmus 8 who are a few bucks under value but nothing special.

I told him if I'm blowing it up in May I need to spread the risk since Reed could get hurt, slump, get passed by Singleton, get traded (with varying degrees of likelihood).

Is he a must-get or should I wait a month and see where things are?

I think that's giving up way too much. I would at least want a second keepable guy back. (Wouldn't really want Trumbo, unless you get him and flip him, and Rasmus is a free agent after this season)

Thanks, that's what I thought. I would be willing to do Walker for Reed right now.

I'd be on that deal, personally. Maybe Gray comes off his DL stint as the good Sonny Gray, but I'm doubtful at this point. Eovaldi and Ventura are about a wash. You likely take a moderate hit at catcher, but I'd take that to get AJ Reed at 1. Carlos Perez isn't even a half bad keeper at 2 in a 2-catcher league.

Thanks for chiming in. Perez is actually 6 (fixed). I assume you would still do it?

The other big keeper out there is Mazara at 10. I should have the pieces to get both.

I'd certainly get Mazara if I could, and I don't have a problem with the deal that you were offered. If you're not going for it, you don't need McCann, and Gray is a giant question mark at this point. Reed will be the guy, sooner or later.
