If you are only playing for the legacy, I'd deal the closers in a moment. They are both top tier, but closers are so iffy from year to year. If you can get solid position players for them I'd jump.

Good stuff with Crawford. He should be up later this year and will be their SS for a long time.

Deals fall through at an alarming rate when you give them time to think

I am thinking of offering JD Martinez and Scherzer for Mookie Betts and Carlos Carrasco--I'm quickly falling out of it.

I can probably get AJ Reed for one of my closers.

      Thoughts?

Scherzer and a closer for Sale?

Any salaries involved? If not I'd stick with what you have on the Scherzer deals. I've found myself going for youth just for the sake of youth before and regretted it. Sometimes the established vet is still the superior keeper.
AJ Reed for a closer sounds like a good option though. Closers are the first guys to trade away when you are rebuilding since they turn over so often. And Reed is a good target.

No salaires involved. Right now the core going into next season are:

          Donadlson
          Dee
          Scherzer

          JP Crawford
          Y Moncada
          Manaea

I can keep 10 so I have room to pick from or trade for better:

          Kenley
          Champan
          W Davis

          JD Martinez
          J Upton
          Lindor
          Y Tomas

          many other fringe guys.

Reed should be an easy get.

Would you prefer Donaldson over K Bryant?

If he's injured for any length of time I might be able to get Bryant and Berrios for Josh.

Donaldson over Kris Bryant. I'd get AJ Reed for a closer. That leaves six pretty strong established players and four really, really strong prospects.
I'm just here for the baseball.

I'm dubious on Tomas, if you can package him that might improve your list. Wondering if there is a sell high opportunity there?

With Dee's suspension, there's now a bit of room on my list

Does it really affect you long term? I thought the idea was creating a good team going forward? I don't see a huge hit in Gordon's long term value here.

Just wondering if getting away from the roids will affect his performance.

Highly unlikely in my opinion. He's not a power hitter.

So my team missed the playoffs, but should easily win the losers bracket which would give me the #1 overall pick (#121) Every team keeps 10 so there might be some top 100 talent at that pick maybe top 50.

I made some trades so here are what I believe will be the team I leave behind (though I'm sorely tempted to return)

                          Donaldson
                          Cano
                          Lindor
                          Gordon
                          Stanton
                          Scherzer

                          AJ Reed
                          Dansby Swanson
                          Benintendi

I had A reyes, JP Crawford and Moancada, but I dealt them for a run at the playoffs (got Cano and Pujols)

I also have these guys who might be worthy of a spot in the top 10

                          Pujols
                          JD Martinez
                          Both Uptons
                          Hernan Perez

                          Ar. Sanchez
                          Jansen
                          E Diaz

Duda and T Ross on the DL

If there are any other players you guys think I should target instead of Swanson or Benintendi, many rookies are avail on the WW.

Whomever gets this team essentially can keep 11 as the first pick can be someone I'd release if there's not a better player avail to grab.

                          Thoughts?

JD Martinez should be an auto-keep. I'm sure Swanson will be good but I'd have trouble keeping him over JD Martinez, and the optimistic projection for AJ Reed probably isn't better than what JDM has done the last two years. I'd certainly have JDM as your 10th right now, and I might have Jansen and Aaron Sanchez over the rookies, though looking at your stat categories are any closers top-100 players? I bet they aren't. So I guess not Jansen and keep one of the other guys.
In the best of times, our days are numbered, anyway. And it would be a crime against Nature for any generation to take the world crisis so solemnly that it put off enjoying those things for which we were presumably designed in the first place, and which the gravest statesmen and the hoarsest politicians hope to make available to all men in the end: I mean the opportunity to do good work, to fall in love, to enjoy friends, to sit under trees, to read, to hit a ball and bounce the baby.

Yeah jd is my seventh keep. I have kept closers each year, I want to go a different direction this time if I keep the team. If not, I want the new owner to have the best options I can give them.
