  • Leaving a legacy

I am currently in a league which I am planning on leaving next season. I have won or finished top 3 every year I've been a member but I've got to move on as RL calls more and more.

It's a 12 team H2H, with the normal 23 players, but with 1 catcher and 10 pitchers. Their scoring is pretty detailed in that there are 9 Hitting and 9 Pitching categories you can win. The trick is winning just enough to come out on top in the playoffs.

You can keep 10 players each year with NO mandatory time limit, so.. If you have Trout, you own him forever. I have dealt guys in the past to help me with playoff runs, guys like, Kershaw and Goldschmidt.

I'd like to pass on a team that has a great chance of contending for years.

Who are your top 10 players if you were building a team going forward. Know that every stud and stud prospect is gone, but I have some trade bait.

Players of significance on my team who I can keep or deal are:

    Josh Donaldson
    Dee Gordon
    Francisco Lindor
    JD Martinez
    Justin Upton
    Lucas Duda?

    Scherzer
    K Jansen
    A Chapman
    W Davis

Do I keep some? Trade them for young up and coming studs?

    If so whom?

Give me your 10 targets for future Trout-Harper-Kershaw guys.

    Thanks!

Interesting exercise. Hope this helps. Names that jump to mind:
    Rizzo
    Correa
    Arrieta
    Maybe Corey Seager ??
Then in prospect land it's more speculative. Guys like
AJ Reed if things break right (same caveat for all prospects)
That guy in Washington (the SP whose name eludes me)
    David Dahl ?
Ozzie Albies (could be huge depending on the 8 categories)
    Brendan Rogers
    Jorge Mateo

You have three ultra premium closers; one or two of those can certainly be dealt. It's too bad Justin Upton has been horrawful to date, as I'd deal him in the right package for sure. If Carlos Correa is involved, I'd deal anyone on your team in a minute.

Key prospects to target - AJ Reed, any of the major SS prospects, Moncada.

I have a chance to get wacha or matz and possibly snell for Upton and one of the closers. Correa is going to cost lindor, jd and a closer.

            Either of these deals attractive?

Matz and Snell for JUp and a closer...yeah, I'd be all over that. I really like both those young arms.

The deal for Correa would almost certainly hurt you this year, but as much as I like all three of whom you'd be dealing, if I were focused on a legacy, I'd do the deal. Nobody should complain about their team being left with Correa.

Tyler Glasnow and Jameson Taillon should be in the Pirates opening day starting rotation next season with their first MLB games most likely coming later this summer. Two excellent pitching prospects who are practically promised rotation spots next year.

JP Crawford is avail on waivers along with Manea and Moncada right now their safe. AJ Reed is gettable. Question is, do I deal guys like Dee, Donaldson or Schrezer to get some of these guys? One guy has Gallo, Golito and Glasnow and I probably get all 3 for a guy like Scherzer

Wow! Just getting Moncada alone is huge. In your shoes, I'd go get Matz and Urias for JUp and a closer, and I think you've left a great legacy behind while still having a good chance to win or place this year. You leave a team with great proven assets this way AND three really strong prospects and a potential stud arm in Matz.

Much as I like Correa, I wouldn't give up my chance to win this year to go get him.

So I've picked up Moncada, Crawford and Manea and have a deal for Matz and urias in the works which will honestly only cost me Upton and one of the closers. I don't think I need any more prospects, but should I tank, I'll consider moving on Correia.

                          Thanks for the help Chance.
