  • 2k16: Chris Archer

He's been awful this year, and then I found this stat on the Twitter:

    Last 10 starts for Archer: 50.2 IP, 63 hits, 31 BB, 10 HRs, 6.39 ERA, .300 avg, .500 SLG.

Just what is wrong with this guy? A start here and there, sure, nothing to worry about, but the last 10 with stats like this?
"Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake."
    - Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821)

"Your shitty future continues to offend me."
    -Warren Ellis

Theres been speculation thats hes injured with the dip in velocity and lack of crispness on his pitches, but I think that we cant overlook the wear and tear that the slider puts on the arm. And he throws one, what, 40% of the time?

High velo + lots of sliders = I'm a little scared

Two starts this week, home against Baltimore and Toronto.

If I had him, I'd sit him. Every start looks worse

              Definitely overthinking.

Reports of the demise of Archer may have been premature. He looked good today.

He looked different last night, but he's not out of the weeds yet. I wrote up all of my thoughts here

tl;dr -- command still isn't to 2015 level and the slider is still lagging behind.

Now Big Yao is laughing at me -- he's been an unmitigated disaster. How much longer until he hits the DL with a case of suckitis?

I also found this interesting stat:
In the first inning of his 2016 starts, Archer has 9 IP, 16 H, 10 BB, 12.00 ERA.

I watched the game (as a Tiger fan). He was very hitable.

Would a move to the NL and Dodger Stadium allow him to shine as a fantasy stud again, or do y'all think there's still something wrong with his mechanics or his psyche that a change of scenery won't cure? How aggressively would you bid in an NL-only league if he came over?

If you can find another pitcher who's gonna come over and strike out 100, have at it! Otherwise, I'd bid at least 50% of your remaining FAAB budget to land him.
