  • OF call-ups: Mallex or Mazara?

Both Mallex Smith and Nomar Mazara will prob get a good chunk of ABs, with Enciarte and Choo out for a while. Of the two, who would you grab and why? Smith seems like major speed, decent average, no power...Mazara becomes youngest player in MLB, seems like good OBP guy, kind of a Choo clone, actually, had a killer spring & great start to AAA season.

I think I'd take Mallex first because of his SB potential.

Mallex Smith reminds me of Bourn in his prime - great wheels and knows how to use them both to get on base and steal them. He could be a very good to excellent lead off hitter for a long time. I've seen him once in person.

Nomar Mazara, though....wow. I think this guy is going to hit and hit a lot. he could be a very Legit five category guy, but not dominant in speed the way Mallex will be.

I'd take Mazara, but I don't think you go wrong with either. Certainly if you have speed needs now, go get Mallex
I'm just here for the baseball.

I have Revere out in my NL league so I will be bidding for Mallex. But Mazara is the better player.

          Mazara makes his case...

ROTOWORLD: Nomar Mazara finished 3-for-4 with a home run in his major league debut Sunday versus the Angels. Mazara went deep off Angels starter Jered Weaver in the top of the fifth inning, giving the Rangers their only run of the day. He also singled in the top of the first and the top of the third. Anaheim finally got him out in the top of the eighth. Mazara is up in the majors as a fill-in for Shin Soo-Choo (calf) and the 20-year-old has the goods to hold mixed-league fantasy relevance for however long he is up. He's going to be a special one eventually.

choo is out longer than inciarte, so i'd think mazara has the edge.

Was 11th out of 12 in waiver order, but had Mallex first due to needing steals first and foremost. Mazara went earlier anyway, so I got Mallex. I'll ride him until Enciarte comes back, hope he makes up for some steals I lost w/ Revere.

Rotoworld drunk or just ahead of themselves?

Braves recalled OF Mallex Smith from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Smith is taking Ender Inciarte's (hamstring) spot on the roster and should handle the bulk of the playing time in center field while Inciarte is on the shelf. The speedy outfielder batted .303/.371/.378 with 56 stolen bases between Double- and Triple-A last season and should be scooped up in all fantasy leagues with his speed upside.

R'WORLD: Mallex Smith is batting leadoff and starting in center field Monday night against the Nationals. It will be the 22-year-old speedster's major league debut. Smith batted .303 with a .371 on-base percentage and 56 stolen bases in 125 games last season between Double-A Mississippi and Triple-A Gwinnett. He's going to get an extended opportunity to shine with Ender Inciarte recovering from a hamstring strain and looks like a must-add for any owner needing steals.

Welcome to the Bigs, kid...grab a bat & meet Mr. Max Scherzer....

Mallex offers one thing (well, two if you count better-than-average plate discipline): steals. So it's SUUUUPER frustrating every night to see the "CS" next to his name.
