  • Never thought I would ask this but Jo Jo Reyes or Doug Fister?

12 Team AL 4x4. I was offered Doug Fister $10 s2 for my Jo Jo Reyes $2 s2.

Clearly, this is garbage for garbage, but I kind of like Reyes. He looked good during spring training, but he has not won a game since 2008.

Based on his current 2011 numbers 0-2 6.20 ERA 1.77 Whip he may be the least valuable SP in the league based on those numbers.

That said, he has a FIP of 3.52 and a xFIP of 4.40 with a BABIP of almost .400, so I see some hope.

Is there any reason to make this trade?

Does Doug Fister have any value?

The potential for lots of walks and home runs from Reyes would scare me. Your ratios could take a pounding.

Fister doesn't have a lot of value, particularly playing in front of that offense, but he should be solid in the ratio categories. He's also working the curve and sinker to good effect this season, and he might be taking a step forward from solid but unexciting up to the "good" starter category. Especially in 4x4 where his lack of strikeouts doesn't hurt you.

I'd take Fister here over Reyes.

That is good enough to convince me. Thanks for the reply.

I agree with KS. Fister is a fine pitcher in a great park. He just might win 2 games in 30 starts. Reyes could be UGLY.

I watched a ST start against the Braves and had him on my radar as a sleeper, but things didn't work out, and it's for the best.

I had Fister as a stopgap last year. You can't hate any pitcher who throws half his games in Seattle. After a double-Fister, I third the vote.

Woo-hoo, Fister is already halfway there with one win in the bank.

I agree with the above, especially in a 12-team league, Fister's solid WHIP (1.28 the last two years, 1.23 in five starts this year) won't hurt you while Reyes could kill you (regardless of his salary).

              From Rotoworld:
04.29... Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos said the team will stick with Jo-Jo Reyes in the rotation "as long as we can."
Spin: He added that there was no timeline of when Reyes might be booted from the rotation if things don't improve. It seems, though, that he doesn't have long to right the ship. The left-hander holds a 5.48 ERA in five starts, and that includes his last outing where he gave up six runs but didn't suffer with his ERA because they were all unearned. The Jays would likely look to Brad Mills or Brett Cecil, who is working out issues at Triple-A, to replace Reyes.
