  • 4x4 NL-Only---keeper question

My usual buzzard's luck continues. I was sitting on Will Smith [$8.] last year waiting for him to take the closer job away from Fat Frankie. Frankie gets traded, Smith seems to have beaten out Jeffress, all is well, right? Torn LCL!
    I have a couple questions:
Do I keep him and hope he regains the closer job when he returns?
Do I cut him and protect one of the following pitchers: Bolsinger-$8., B Maurer-$10, E.Butler-$10.
Do I just keep 14 of the allowed 15?

For pitching keepers I have Syndergaard and Iglesias as SP's, Ziegler as closer. I will have an average of $10. per player to spend at auction.

    Thanks for input!

Cut Smith and don't keep the other three pitchers; none have profit at those prices.

Agreed. Drop Smith and other 3 keepers too. Nothing wrong with keeping 14 out of 15.

That's where I am heading, unless Maurer suddenly emerges in the next week!
        Thanks for confirmation!

What if you have Smith for $1 like I do? (NL-only 12 team 4x4 keeper league, 25% inflation)

          My options...

          > Keep Smith for $1

or I can drop Smith and keep one of these instead...

          > Adam Duvall for $1
          > Brandon Belt for $26

          or keep none of them?

            Cut and cut.

ChrisMal, I answered your question in the other post (drop Smith, keep Belt).

Not sure I would keep Belt at $26

Considering the injury and that Jeffress/Knebel may run with the role, I would drop Smith. If you really like him, redraft him for $1 - $3 in the end game.

I like Smith at $1...but I think you can get him back for a similar price. I like Duvall $1 in a 12-team, 4x4 NL-only league, and he could earn a reasonable profit, depending on PT. The rebuilding Reds have no reason to not see how that power plays...and Duvall can back up at 1B and 3B, when not playing the OF.
