  • 2k16 - Matt Carpenter

Matt Carpenter is 30 years old and enjoyed a substantial power surge last year
runs totals for the past 3 years 121, 99, 101
    HRs 11,8,28 (28??)
    avg .318, .272. .272
only a couple of stolen bases

He has become one of the top tier 2nd baseman in mixed league
    BUT
due to the paucity of 3b - is he a pretty substantial 3b candidate also

Who would you take ahead of him at 3rd? and when does the cliff start?

100 runs, 20 HRs and .275 avg seems realistic?

I think your stat line is pretty realistic, maybe even a little light on the power side. There was talk last preseason about a change of approach at the plate and it seems like hes really embraced it. he cut down on contact and his strikeouts have risen, but hes also got a lot more pop with that approach. With an .870 OPS last season, i prefer he keep it that way. As to who I would take ahead of him in drafts, there are the clear big 5 this year in the first tier with Donaldson, Arenado, Machado, Bryant, Frazier in your preferred order(thats ESPN's this year) and then it drops off to Carpenter, Seager, Beltre
(again same). I have to say I agree with that 8 in standard redraft leagues.
