  • 2k11 Padres offense

This offense has been flat out pitiful thus far.

    Bartlett 243
    Headley 232
    Hudson 229
    Ludwick 184
    Venable 177
    Cantu 143
    Hawpe 098

Hundley and Maybin have been the only pleasant surprises. Sure some of these numbers will be corrected but the fact is Hawpe and Cantu look done. Vebable is looking more and more like a 4th OF. Bartlett and Hudson were never that good to begin with.

What can we expect over the next 8 weeks? Evereth Cabrera, Dacker or Rizzo going to get the call?
After former Broncos quarterback Brian Griese sprained his ankle and said he was tripped on the stairs of his home by his golden retriever, Bella: “The dog stood up on his hind legs and gave him a push? You might want to get rid of that dog, or put him in the circus, one of the two.”

Venable went for $28 in my NL only league. Ouch.
I'm unconsoled I'm lonely, I am so much better than I used to be.

Right now the talk out of Black and Hoyer is that they believe it will turn around soon. But I can't imagine they'll go much longer with hawpe/cantu. I don't see them calling Rizzo up first--I'm pretty certain it will be Blanks, who they recently brought into 1b from the OF. That said Blanks isn't really giving them a reason to be brought up. They've stated Rizzo needs time still to develop and there's the added specter of avoiding the 'super two' status which will keep him down for the time being. Cabrera won't get called as the Padres seem fine with Bartlett/Hudson and their back up Patterson. Dacker is intriguing, but again, I don;t see the Padres bailing on Venable or Ludwick and think they believe Denorfia will be a fine platoon or replacement for either.

Right now nothing is going right offensively for the Pads. for the team in fact. they aren't fielding the ball very well either. They've struggled bunting. they leave a ton of guys on base when they finally get them on. Their line drives are right to gloves and the oppositions bleeders are perfectly placed. Not getting calls and on and on. It's been a brutal stretch of baseball to watch. I think these are some of the reasons the Front Office doesn't want to make a rash decision and unload guys (as they did with Jim Edmonds a few years back)

they are stealing bases and walking at a pretty good clip, but no clutch hitting at all.

On the bright side, their pitching rocks and that's with Latos struggling. I'm just hoping they finally score a run in support of Mosely tonight. but then again-- they might get shut out and Dustin will lose on an unearned run he gives up.

The Padres held the Phils to 12 runs in 4 games

But they only scored 3 themselves.

No fear, the Pads will hold em close and find a way to hand the game over by an eyelash!

you'd think the team who's slogan is "Keep the Faith" would be just the club for you!!

I wouldn't go popping the bubbly yet, he's always hit DLowe well - .333/.409/.667 with 3 homers in 39 career at-bats

Whenever I get down on the Dodgers' offense it always helps to look at the Padres' hitting stats. But then I compare bullpens and start weeping again

They looked like the 2k10 Mariners vs. the Phils. But what was more surprising to me was how bad the OF defense was. Maybin has no instincts for when/where to break on a ball, and Ludwick looks like Greg Luzinski out there.

Greg Louganis would be smoother to the ball....no pun intended.

                            Brad Hawpe: 9-for-62, 0 HRs, 2 Runs, 2 RBI, 3 BB, 23 K

Since being released by COL, he's hitting .140 with a 41% K rate.

Has anyone fallen off a cliff faster than Hawpe?

I kind of wish the Padres would push him the rest of the way off.
