  • List of Every Professional Player in 2015?

Does anyone know of an easy way to get a list of every player who had a professional plate appearance or pitching appearance in 2015?

I actually want every MLB/MiLB affiliated player, but I would be ok with literally every professional player, including foreign and independent leagues. I was able to get a list of leaders at Baseball Reference that apparently included literally all professional players including KBO, JPPL, CNS, etc. but I can only seem to get a Top 100 in any particular category.

I am also able to get a list of of every player affiliated with a particular MLB team at B-R, but I would still need to visit 60 pages (30 for batters, 30 for pitchers) to obtain a complete list. I'm trying to find those players for all teams on one list, two lists actually, as I don't need batters and pitchers on the same list.

I assume B-R is the most likely source for this, but I can't seem to find the right location.

The last thing I want to do is hurt you...but it's still on the list.

Unfortunately I believe he only lists MLB players, no?

Thanks Mike, awesome. I'll be sure to contact you again next spring.

          Hi Mike,

Are you able to provide these again for 2017 and are they available yet?

          Thanks.

If you're comfortable with writing something to strip the data set a bit (basically just extracting the players with pro_played_last == 2016), you could use https://github.com/chadwickbureau/re...ata/people.csv. For what it's worth, I confirmed that it contains Alex Bregman, Nick Senzel, and Shohei Otani.
In the best of times, our days are numbered, anyway. And it would be a crime against Nature for any generation to take the world crisis so solemnly that it put off enjoying those things for which we were presumably designed in the first place, and which the gravest statesmen and the hoarsest politicians hope to make available to all men in the end: I mean the opportunity to do good work, to fall in love, to enjoy friends, to sit under trees, to read, to hit a ball and bounce the baby.

That looks like it worked. Thanks mjl. I don't suppose there's any easy way to separate the Batters from the Pitchers is there?

I just opened it in Excel and did a filter of 2016 on the pro_played_last column. Didn't need to write anything.

I don't think there is in that data set, but if you were technically inclined you could join those player codes to another source that might have the data you need. It'd be a bit of work though.
