  • Kyle Lohse?

I'm surprised there's no thread on him yet.

Lohse came into today with 2.47 xFIP, 50% GB and 8 k/bb.

    Today: 9IP 2 hits 2 bb 6 k, and the win.

Finally healthy and ready to be Duncan's latest salvage? Or will he revert to the normal Lohse?

Been saying he's a lock since Spring Training. I wasn't a believer before but I like what I have seen and heard out of him ever since he has shown himself to be healthy. Good life to his sinker and outstanding command like you said.

      Buy

much improved walk rate and he's featuring his change-up much more often than in the past. He's part of my BP article today

Look at his HR/FB over last 2 years. If he could do 7% last year, is 4% that bad? His G/F ratio is also a career high 1.5 right now so a change in approach, along with better command, is leading to better results.

I happened to see him pitch vs the Dodgers and wasn't all that impressed. The Dodgers hit a few "at em balls", and Lohse was benefiting from an a strike zone that was as wide as the Grand Canyon. It was beyond absurd.

With that said, I own him and will ride out the hot streak. I expect a correction coming soon.

I think Lohse can come close (wins aside) to the line Pineiro had in his last year with the Cards - though with higher Ks and I have to figure a higher WHIP as well...

Lohse continues to shine, 7 innings, 4 hits, 1 walk, zero runs, but only 2 strikeouts, so there's room for improvement...

The problem with that thinking is that Duncan and Lohse were also together in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

Yea, but look what you missed when passing on it back in late April? I'm not buying it for the rest of the season, but I'd buy it for the first half as I did back 6 weeks ago.

Well, he wasn't available to me anyway, but yeah, if you bought then you've done very well.

I could live with the low K rate and the "smart pitcher" factor if he had an elite BB rate (good, not quite elite for this K rate) and his hit pct wasn't so low.

As good a "sell high" candidate as there is, precisely because he has a couple of months of this now. Doesn't seem like a fluke to some. Seems like he's "figured it out."

He's really pitching at an ok level, even for mixed, I think, but I know a guy who can get Uggla for him - and I'd do that for sure...

I picked him up on April 10th in my mixed league and I've been very happy since then. Even if he is a 3.8-4 era guy the rest of the way I'm still pretty happy with that.
