    GM Meetings

    from MLB trade Rumors Steve Adams:

    Nationals GM Mike Rizzo says that he’s yet to receive any inquiries on right-hander Stephen Strasburg but has received calls on both Drew Storen and Jonathan Papelbon (via Jon Morosi of FOX Sports (Twitter link). James Wagner of the Washington Post, however, adds (via Twitter) that Rizzo says he won’t move either reliever unless he receives a “real baseball offer.”


    My question, is what type of "real baseball offer" is he talking about in regards to Papelbon? Would it take 3 real baseballs or 4?

    He did use the singular, not plural form.
    It certainly feels that way. But I'm distrustful of that feeling and am curious about evidence.

        Heard a strange rumor tonight regarding the Nats, Yankees and Padres where the Nats get Miller and prospects, Padres get Storen and Prospects, Yanks get Kimbrel and Strasburg.

        Sounds like bullshit though.

            I do think Yankees decided to pay Miller as a closer, proved he's a closer, and might be willing to move him now. Having two stud closers on a team that doesn't win 90 games doesn't seem like the best allocation of resources, regardless of payroll.

              Patrick Mooney of CSNChicago.com reports that the Cubs planning to sit down with the agents for David Price, Zack Greinke and Jordan Zimmermann at this week's GM Meetings.
              The Cubs are widely-expected to go after a top-flight starting pitcher this offseason, but these will mostly be preliminary discussions as they attempt to get a feel for the market. Price would be reunited with Joe Maddon in Chicago and has been considered a natural fit there for a while, but it's all going to come down to the money. He's expected to land a contract north of $200 million.-RotoWorld

                      I made a pledge to try and be nicer, my initial post was--Why do you have to be such a fucking dick?

                      Try solving your own teams issues like, how to win in the post season despite having all the talent and triple the payroll before bashing another team whom you obviously don't understand and dislike immensely.'

                      The Padres are at least trying to improve and fwiw, over the past 20 years, despite outspending the Padres pretty much 3-1 the Dodger have only 2 more division titles and one LESS NL Pennant than the Padres.

                      So, while you're sitting there feeling toasty because a GM in his first year didn't pull a rabbit out of his hat, know Padre fans rejoice and have for 2 decades for every year those arrogant, condescending, entitled LA fans and their players watch the World Series with the rest of us, at home on the couch.
