      But this has nothing to do with Super 2 status (or so they continue to say). Somehow I find that a bit suspect....

      EDIT: Oh, a nice RBI triple to start today's game. Where was that when he needed it yesterday for the cycle?? No wonder he needs more development time...

            the top 17% of each class in regards to service time get to go to arbitration a year earlier than the others. Chase Headley is a recent example of this; Padres had to pay him $2.4M this season in just his 3rd year as a pro rather than next year when most guys get that bump.

              But if the guy starts his MLB career off really quick, a la Evan Longoria, they buy him out of his first few years of arbitration. So what's the point?

                With McDonald hurt, the Jays don't really have a backup MI. Hill can play SS, I suppose, but then you need a 2B. McCoy fills that gap.

                And they don't want to promote Lawrie yet, which is the real reason despite the above.
