Early look at AL Keepers

Not much here as I traded most of my marginal keepers (Volquez 2, Colabello 3, Buehrle 3, Phegley 1, Kazmir 15, Gibson 3) and captured my 3rd straight runner-up title on the final day.

Can keep 7. Inflation was 17.6% last year.

Who should be on my short list?

None of the above? Can't say I love any of them. I think I like Eovaldi, and probably Walker. On offense I suppose ... yeah, just can't get into any of them. Calhoun I guess?

I should mention that it's 12 teams so the values are going to be a bit higher than a 10-teamer.

That said. I admittedly 'went for it' and reached my goal. The 3rd place team is in the same boat so it may be a stars-and-scrubs type year, trying to grab some cheap guys as potential keepers.

I mean with that inflation, or if it ends up being a big higher, you may argue to keep Zobrist (position flexibility helps a small bit), or maybe Calhoun. But I wouldn't. I think the only one is perhaps Eovaldi at 7. You think someone will pay much more than 16 for Walker in auction? If so and you really like him, sure, keep him. Same goes for Graveman, who I'd guess would be 5 or less.

I'd be down for Eovaldi and Walker. I would not keep Calhoun. He is a weird dude. Struck out 164 times last year, stole just 4 bases. If he's a .250-25hr-5sb guy again is that really a $26 player?

Good analysis. He was the last big OF available last year so I went a few bucks more than I wanted to. With our inflation, his base price would be $22. I think he earns it. However, he is not a value, so I won't clog up a spot.

In a keeper pool with only 2 keepers and ~20% inflation, is stars and scrubs the way to go?
