  • Yogi Berra, Today we are waking up...

to find that one of the greats has passed away. One of the best catchers of all time, 3 time MVP, and 10 time World Series champion.

Let's honor him with our favorite Yogi quotes.

I can't find who relayed this, but another player was going to visit Yogi at his house. The player was a bit lost, so stopped at a pay phone to call Yogi.

Yogi: Where are you at right now?

Other Player: I'm at a pay phone across the street from the library.

Yogi: Oh, you're going the wrong way. Don't go that way, come this way.
Considering his only baseball post in the past year was bringing up a 3 year old thread to taunt Hornsby and he's never contributed a dime to our hatpass, perhaps?

Being a 10 time World Series champion is probably a record that will never be broken.

Favorite Yogi Berra quote: "Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded."

    RIP Yogi.

Yeah, sad to hear tho 90 is a pretty good run.

One of my favs: if the people don't want to come, you can't stop them.
It certainly feels that way. But I'm distrustful of that feeling and am curious about evidence.

I knew the record would stand until it was broken.

Baseball is ninety percent mental and the other half is physical.
Bob- I'm not exactly sure it would ROCK as you say it Byron.. it may be cool, by typical text book descriptions. Your opinion of this is shallow and poorly constructed, but allow me to re-craft your initial thought into something tangable.

                Yogi - "Surprise me."

I know one of his many cousins, Steve Berra.

Did you know that Joe Garagiola was a boyhood friend in St Louis.

Yogi was a true original. If he didn't exist, we would have had to invent him. He will be remembered with a smile. One of the all time great players, and an even greater sports personality.

To quote Yogi, "The future ain't what it used to be," without Yogi in it.

Actually lived on the same block. Leading to a great (non-Yogi) quote. When someone referred to Gargjiola as a great catcher, he was brushed off with, "I'm not even the best catcher on my block!" RIP Yogi

Yogi has played in more world series games than the Red Sox franchise.

Another Yogi-ism: "Good pitching will always beat good hitting and vice-versa."

When Dale Berra was playing in Pittsburgh, a reporter compared him to Yogi. The younger Berra responded with: "You can't compare me to my father, our similarities are different."
