  • Bargain hunting Keeper WW

It's the last few days where WW pickups can be kept. A player must be on Yahoo today to be eligible.

Which of these SS/MI are worth gambling a roster slot over the winter? We trim down in February.

Value is for 2016-2017, but at least two must be playable now. Option cost ranges from about #120, for a current player, to about #280 for a pure minor leaguer. Figure on carrying 3-5 to keep 1-3.

    Elian Herrera
    Freddy Galvis
    Rubén Tejada
    Kiké Hernández
    Ketel Marte
    J.P. Crawford
    Trevor Story
    Jedd Gyorko
    Chris Owings
    Jean Segura
    Danny Santana

Gyorko, Story, Marte. Crawford if you don't mind not having him for (at least) half of 2016. Other than a painful April, Gyorko has actually been pretty good this year.
In the best of times, our days are numbered, anyway. And it would be a crime against Nature for any generation to take the world crisis so solemnly that it put off enjoying those things for which we were presumably designed in the first place, and which the gravest statesmen and the hoarsest politicians hope to make available to all men in the end: I mean the opportunity to do good work, to fall in love, to enjoy friends, to sit under trees, to read, to hit a ball and bounce the baby.

Definitely JP Crawford. He will be the future SS in Philly at sometime next year. He will not start the year in the majors, but should start in AAA. He was in AA Reading this year.
Bob- I'm not exactly sure it would ROCK as you say it Byron.. it may be cool, by typical text book descriptions. Your opinion of this is shallow and poorly constructed, but allow me to re-craft your initial thought into something tangable.

Crawford started the year in A+ after spending the beginning of the season of IR. He scorched High-A and has been decent at AA after his promotion. I could see him starting in Reading (AA) again next year. Best sign from him AA campaign is that he has more BB (49) than K's (45). He plays a very good SS too. Phillies will still stink next year so I doubt he is an early 2016 callup. He will be up at some point next year for good though.

Galvis is what you see right now, and will lose ABs once Crawford is up, so I wouldn't rush out to grab him.
I'm not expecting to grow flowers in the desert...

I am thinking Marte, Segura and Gyorko, because they have jobs. Crawford and Story for future value and possible trade bait. I will need to trim to 2-3, but not til midwinter.

Does anyone else on that list have reason to bump one of those five?
