  • Shifting from general "Prospects" post, focusing solely on Moncada...

Is Moncada too far off to grab him in a keeper where we can only keep players for 2 years? If I snagged him now he'd very likely eat up a bench spot through 2016 (we don't have minor league bench spots) and realistically, might not even sniff Fenway until June of 2017 earliest, depending on Pedroia health. But with a couple Sox homers in my league, he may not last long, someone might pull trigger early. I'd probably drop Marlon Byrd for him.

And if I get him as a free agent now, he'll be a 23rd/final rounder next two years, which is great value...if he's playing. Still, worry he won't see actual MLB action until mid-2017 so his only value until then might be as a trade chip. BUT, maybe when Napoli's contract expires they shift Panda to 1B and take a shot on the kid at 3B? Who knows...

I'd take that chance even though I think it's only 50/50 he starts in 2017. But if you have Sox homers, and he's that cheap of a keeper, I'd take him for trade leverage alone.
I'm just here for the baseball.
