According to MLB.com's Jonathan Mayo, Miguel Montero (thumb) could be out for as long as six weeks.
Montero's injury is only being called a jammed left thumb, but it's apparently a pretty severe one. He'll officially be placed on the disabled list Friday, with top prospect Kyle Schwarber coming up from Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding roster move. Word is the Cubs plan to use a committee behind the plate in Montero's absence, but Schwarber is the guy to own for fantasy purposes.

What do you think the chances are that Schwarber gets to 130 AB this season? I have him in two leagues and can activate him, but the opportunity cost of doing it if he doesn't make it to 130 AB is pretty significant - in both leagues he'd be a free keeper next year if he's under rookie limits and I never activated him, but if I activate him at all he's $13/yr 2 in one league and $7/yr 1 in the other, which isn't so bad but we only get six keepers in that league and I'm a bit squeezed already. In the best of times, our days are numbered, anyway. And it would be a crime against Nature for any generation to take the world crisis so solemnly that it put off enjoying those things for which we were presumably designed in the first place, and which the gravest statesmen and the hoarsest politicians hope to make available to all men in the end: I mean the opportunity to do good work, to fall in love, to enjoy friends, to sit under trees, to read, to hit a ball and bounce the baby.

As far as I can tell, neither of these leagues use the actual rookie qualification rules, just the AB minimum. Actually, now that I just checked, the league where he'd go to 13/2 inexplicably has a 150 AB threshold, not 130.In the best of times, our days are numbered, anyway.
