  • McCutchen injury (maybe)

Left game in the 1st after taking a 91 mph pitch off his left elbow.
In the best of times, our days are numbered, anyway. And it would be a crime against Nature for any generation to take the world crisis so solemnly that it put off enjoying those things for which we were presumably designed in the first place, and which the gravest statesmen and the hoarsest politicians hope to make available to all men in the end: I mean the opportunity to do good work, to fall in love, to enjoy friends, to sit under trees, to read, to hit a ball and bounce the baby.

06.27: X-rays on Andrew McCutchen's left elbow came back negative.
(Pirates fans can breathe a huge sigh of relief. McCutchen is day-to-day. Meanwhile, Saturday's game just got a little more interesting. Both dugouts were warned after Charlie Morton plunked Andrelton Simmons. It's unclear if Morton was retaliating for McCutchen's hit-by-pitch earlier in the game.)

"Maybe I need to dropkick a pitcher,'' McCutchen said after Saturday's game. ''Maybe that will scare them into not throwing at me."

Love it. I'm worried he is going to be playing through the pain for a few days, but he was back today so that's a start.
