Coming up on the half way point, what has surprised you?

    1) Texas is contending with three aging journeymen, a marginal prospect and a rookie for a rotation. They currently are one game off a wild card berth.

    2) Houston has the best record in the AL.

    3) The Dodgers have the best bench in baseball, but cannot come up with a lineup.

    4) The Cubs and Indians are on pace to make the postseason.

    5) Atlanta is .500

I'll do the "glass half empty" part:

    1) While I thought my Brewers were overrated, I didn't think they'd suck like this.
    2) Same for the White Sox
    3) Remember all that hope in Boston with the FA signings they made? Ouch, this is gettin' ugly. Actually, at 31-40 with a -45 run differential, they might be a little lucky only to be that bad.
    4) Oakland has a +35 run differential and is a half game behind Boston. Double ouch.
    5) Washington has given up almost 30 more runs than the Cubs.
I'm just here for the baseball.

That one I missed. Cubs don't pitch. It's in the lease on Wrigley.

I expected the south side to suck. The organization does not understand that defense helps pitching.

        ARod hitting .285/.384/.536 with 15 HR, 42 RBI and 42 R !
..............and i dropped him for Moustakis after the first week! Moose is doing well too, but it would have been nice to have both.

Dee Gordon and Jason Kipnis both hitting over .350 and looking like batting title contenders!

Translation: Their manager is an idiot.

              1) The Padres having a worse winning % than they had last season (well, they're slightly ahead now)
              2) The rapid emergence of the Astros. While I liked them coming into this year, they're much better than I thought.
              3) Atlanta is nearly at the .500 mark
              4) the Yankee offense is up nearly a run a game over last season
