  • Jimmy Paredes can hit?

Is anybody drinking the Kool-aid on Paredes?

I like him quite a bit, as somebody with power and speed, and reputedly AWFUL defence... so he might acquire 2B/3B/OF eligibility just based on part time work. Kind of like the anti-Zobrist. Plays everywhere because they keep trying to hide him around the diamond. 16 SB, 9 CS over his 497 PA in 5 seasons. Also 8 HR... but those were from some awful years. Could he scratch and claw his way to 15-20 HR, 10-15 SB? Too early to call it, but I'm giving it slightly more than a snowball's chance in hell.

How much FAAB did he go for in your league?

He still profiles for less than 5% BB rate, so he'll need to hit .280+ BA in order to be worth playing. But Baltimore seems to want to see what they have.

The first poster to make a "parade" pun will not be me.

I picked him up last week for 6 bucks. His 2 hrs in that time have tied him with my Springer, Pompey, and Betts. And they have had all year to do it.

For a FA it really doesn't get any better than this. Go Jimmy Go!!

I got lucky & got him last week for $2. Hopefully Baltimore gets to play a home game sometime in the near future.
It certainly feels that way. But I'm distrustful of that feeling and am curious about evidence.

Still crushing it. HR #5 today, hitting for a .338 AVG through 71 AB's.

I've watched some plate appearances. Not sure the plate discipline will allow him to continue like this... but the power seems legit. Still waiting on the average to tumble though. Also still waiting on adding 2B eligibility. 2 or 3 appearances there so far, but they're playing Steve Pearce at 2B these days to tell you what they think of Paredes' glove.

with their regular 2b out and their 2nd choice at 2b Flaherty on the DL again, I expect Paredes to get 2b eligibility on May 23 in interleague play vs Mia. he has 3 games at 2b so far and needs 2 more. and when Bal played the NYM in a 2 game interleague series Paredes played 2nd in both games. they clearly like his bat more than Pearce and Rey Navarro (if they call him up again). that's why they play him at 2b when only 1 out of those 3 players can get AB's.

im a believer in Paredes, tho there's no pattern of stats to research outside very small samples. it's more about Pearce sucking this year. a team like Bal, has those types of hitters that come out of nowhere. and this year Paredes seems like the new Pearce; with 2b eligibility hopefully.

Paredes acquires 2B eligibility today, and goes 2 for 5 to get up to .355 through 121 AB's.

5% walk rate with a reputation as a hacker, yet he has only a 20% K rate. Still waiting for him to cool off. Is asking for 20 games at 2B pushing it? That would bump him quite a bit for keeper value.
