  • Waiver Wire Starting Pitchers

    I am looking for an assist with SP that are currently out on our waiver wire. Traditional mixed league 5x5.

    Candidates I am looking to rank:
    Alexi Ogando
    Matt Harrison
    Bud Norris
    Justin Masterson
    Chris Young

    Ogando - Lightning stuff
    Masterson - Better chance to stay in rotation all year
    ~~~~~
    Norris
    Young
    ~~~~~
    Harrison - Most likely will be out of rotation when Webb/Hunter are back
    I'm unconsoled I'm lonely, I am so much better than I used to be.

      I still like Norris. 13 Ks and 3 walks in 10 innings. You've got to take a chance on Ogando's stuff, but keep in mind that he has never topped 70 innings in a season.

      Ogando
      Norris
      ----
      Masterson
      Young
      ----
      Harrison

        As joncarlos says, Ogando has never topped 70 innings. You might point to CJ Wilson and think that a RP can make the switch and not fade, but CJ Wilson prepared all off season to start. Ogando didn't, I don't think, so I think it is inevitable that he fades. I'd go with the hot hand for now as your top option, but for the season, I'd put him below Norris and Masterson.

          Are you looking for a short-term answer or are you looking for a player to help the whole season?

          Short Term -
          Ogando - never pitched a full season in the rotation
          Young - very injury-prone
          Harrison - eventually loses rotation spot

          Long Term -
          Masterson
          Norris

            Looking at the best option over the rest of the season.

            Ogando is clearly the sexiest choice right now, but agree that his innings have to be limited later in the year.

            My real decision seems to be Materson and Norris. I have endured Masterson in the past, and wondering if this is the year and with Norris -- the K rate is nice if he keep the ball in the park and limit the walks.
