Oh, cool. That's good news. Thanks. He's really flying under the radar...assuming he can stay healthy. There's a pretty clear road the majors for him if he can just stay on the field.

Re the busting slot issue, the Mets refused to bust slot long before they got into financial trouble because Wilpon is close personal friends with Selig and always does what Selig wants.

In the most recent New Yorker, Wilpon harped on how bad the team was and had not-complimentary things to say about Reyes, Beltran and (to a lesser extent) Wright. Sounds like a man who knows he will be forced to sell soon and doesn't care what people think about what he says anymore.

According to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News, Francisco Rodriguez is willing to waive his 2012 vesting option if it makes a trade easier to complete.
The Mets are expected to attempt to move K-Rod later this summer, but he will be due $17.5 million next season if he finishes 55 games in 2011 and that could deter potential suitors. Unless, like Martino's source claims, Rodriguez is willing to waive that option. The acquiring team would then have to be willing to discuss a long-term deal with the 27-year-old right-hander.

A lot can happen between now and then, but if everything stays the same...Isringhausen to close if that happens?

You'd have to think since they're rebuilding they'd need to groom a young closer. Parnell was the heir apparent in the press.....maybe now it's Beato. Tough to say at this stage.

Parnell has been hurt but I think if he gets healthy he's got the inside track to take the closer role.

I can't find the exact quote but I think that K-Rod also said he'd waive the option if the Mets gave him an extension. I think he's seeing the writing on the wall that he's going to get traded into a setup role and no matter what happens the option won't vest. It will be interesting to see what happens if he does get traded and expects his new team to work something out to void the option. The new team's GM might just say "nope, we're good, enjoy the 8th inning" and I'm wondering if K-Rod would make a stink.

Oh, and I hate to say it but since this is the rebuilding thread, I think after Wilpon's comments, they have to consider trading Wright now too.

Maybe Wright/Pelfrey can go to the Angels for a good package (probably still won't get Trout, but Segura/Bourjos/Chatwood) and Reyes to the Giants for Zack Wheeler/Gary Brown ... the Mets could throw in Paulino since the Giants now need a catcher, assuming they don't fold up their tents after the Posey injury.

Ike may be out for the year with what was diagnosed as a bone bruise. Are you kidding me?

Anyone expecting any good news on Wright today?

At some point, I expect the Mets' medical staff to be fired. And I fully expect the new staff to come in with a live feed video cam as they walk into the training room for the first time to uncover chains, saws, swords, torture racks, and the faint scream of one Johan Santana in the distant background.

Once Einhorn takes over, sure. The Wilpons haven't gotten a clue about this and never will.

Another bone bruise???!!!??? I love to hate on the Mets, but this is down right ridiculous.
Bob- I'm not exactly sure it would ROCK as you say it Byron.. it may be cool, by typical text book descriptions. Your opinion of this is shallow and poorly constructed, but allow me to re-craft your initial thought into something tangable.

David Wright was cleared to resume baseball activities Thursday after visiting a back specialist.
If everything goes smoothly from here on out, Wright should be able to return to the Mets' starting lineup in two weeks. The third baseman has been on the disabled list since mid-May with a stress fracture in his lower back. He left behind a disappointing .226/.337/.404 batting line.

Heyman reporting the Rangers have interest in Beltran and possibly K-Rod. The Rangers certainly have some intriguing prospects as well as cheap, young major leaguers the Mets may be interested in.
