16 brave competitors from PA, Ohio, and California (!) will square off tomorrow in the annual PONY auction. Pink donuts will be eaten. Del will be distracted. Mike Stanton jokes will be made. Miguel Cabrera will be overpaid. Tommy John pitchers will challenge everyone's valuation skills.
In case anyone wants to see the keepers, I'm attaching the spreadsheet. You'll have to really want it since I uploaded it as a zip.
Can the lildogs survive an auction budget of only $86? Well they already have Trout, Goldschmidt, Donaldson, Harper, Machado and Corey Dickerson, so I like their odds. Will Tyler return triumphant after a few years off? Can JC put together a team that can be in first place at the end of the season, instead of leading for 4 months and collapsing? How quickly can Gris text his "advisors" during the auction? How many Cubans can Randy buy? Will the jet lag get to Wayne? Can Dalaine and Drew remember that they only need to buy 2 pitchers? Can I go back to work now and quit writing this?
