  • Keeper Review

With the recent injuries, I'm revisiting my keeper list. League is 12-team AL plus Brewers, Cubs, and Cards. 5x5 with OBP replacing BA and SLG replacing HR. Standard 5 pitching cats. Values have traditionally run very close to a 10-team AL or NL only league with low inflation (10%). I can keep 9.

    C Suzuki $5
    C C. Ianetta $5
    1B A. Pujols $25
    3B C. Gillespie $1
    CI Ceccini $10
    2B R. Cano $34
    2B M. Johnson $5
    SS Santana $10
    OF M. Saunders $4
    OF J Bautista $35
    OF S. Fuld $10
    OF M. Cabrera $14
    OF B. Gardner $16
    UT D. Ortiz $21
    UT S. Gennett $5

    P Kazmir $15
    P C. Allen $3
    P D. Holland $9
    P Rondon $10
    P H. Santiago $1
    P G. Richards $3

Not a great list but a nice power trio as a foundation...I think Kazmir's value goes up if Darvish goes down.
If DMT didn't exist we would have to invent it. There has to be a weirdest thing. Once we have the concept weird, there has to be a weirdest thing. And DMT is simply it.

I like this list. With the shortage of pitching you need to keep Kazmir.

No love for Santana? I realize he's due for a regression, but at $10 he should still have good value for a SS. I'd sub him in for Saunders or Bautista from DMT's list.

We're thinking along the same lines, other than I was going to sub him in for Pujols. I don't see much upside in Pujols at $25, and a whole lot of potential downside.

But I appreciate all the input - given me some things to think about. With all the pitching injury disasters of late, I was toying with keeping Derek Holland at 9 instead of Bautista at 35. With the fairly low inflation in our league, players don't go for 40 or 40+ unless they're named Cabrera or Trout, so I think I can get Joey Bats back at 35 or a couple bucks more, but I suspect decent mid-tier SPs like Holland are going to go in the mid-teens.

              Thanks to all!

I think if you take a peek at Kazmir's 5.42 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in the second half od last year, you may want to look several times at keeping him.

Yeah, he ran out of gas in August. And I like your idea about Gennett - he does qualify at 2B, not sure why I had him listed at UT. I'll have to look at that harder.
