Well... I thought I'd done the perfect bit of packing for this US trip. That was until I sat down to finalise my damn keepers for a league I've been in for 14 years.

12 team 5x5 mixed. Single catcher but otherwise standard roster. Can keep 7, unlimited contract.

I think most agree on Goldy, Miggy, Hamilton, although Hamilton could either win you the league or become below replacement value.

I would go with Pedroia and Gattis. They are within the top half dozen at their respective positions, and should carry less risk than many other of your potential keepers.

You have some really nice pitchers, but there is so much pitching today. Harvey and Teheran fall much farther down the list, relative to other starters, than do Pedroia and Gattis, even considering that you need a bunch of starting pitchers. I like Cobb a lot, though.

So, I'd take:

Pedroia
Gattis
Cobb
This last slot gives you the freedom to keep another pitcher or make your offense even stronger. I think Chris Davis carries much more value than either Harvey or Teheran.

Sloan conference a goal for me every year and some topics are in my work wheelhouse, but every year I get swamped and can't make it. Plus I'm pretty sure Massachusetts is still closed from all that snow.

Assuming you can keep them forever I think Harvey has to be on the list.

Goldy, Miggy and Hamilton are must-keeps. I don't love Hamilton and I'd try hard to trade him, but you have to keep him if you can't. That makes 4.

I would add Gattis. I don't love him in a 1-catcher league but he's the most elite player you have left. That's 5.

3B is so deep I'm not even sure I keep Davis, but I guess it's better than keeping 2 more pitchers. So I'd keep Davis and whichever of Teheran or Cobb that you like better.

I think it is primarily concern over how exactly Petco will affect his power. Also, in the new and improved line up, if he struggles, there is no guarantee he sticks at the top of the order. An admittedly small risk, but he could swap from the 2 hole down to 6th if Gyorko or Alonso get hot and he gets cold. With other good options, it doesn't take much doubt to move him down below the others.
