I got invited to play in an NL only, 12 team league... Here is why this is interesting: with the exception of me, all the people in the league are either local TV sports anchors or TV / Radio sports producers. ( I worked in TV at Fox Philly for 19 years, though in engineering ). I have played in leagues with some of these guys before, both baseball and football, and one thing I have learned is that for being "sports" guys, they really don't know all that much about sports. I would bet that almost everybody here could finish in the top 3 if given the chance. I was asked to fill out the league since I had played with them in so many leagues before - well half of them anyway.

I don't think I have ever wanted to win a league as much as I want to win this one.

and yes, sometimes a little knowledge is a dangerous thing - which may explain your rivals.

Well, you certainly don't want to join a league you don't think you can win.
