2K15 Free Agent League

I've been finding this thread fascinating all season, but I have one problem. I don't understand!

Can someone explain what a free agent league is?

You draft a bunch of scrubs (I think Barry Zito was my 1st round pick) and then cut them all, so you compete only with the players you can get off the waiver wire. And through trades, if you can find anyone dumb enough to trade for a player they could have had for free.
