  • Keep an eye out for Solarte eventually moving to 2b if he can handle it.

Not pimping them as the Cubs or Royals, but they're better than you've asserted and the one's I've mentioned can definitely be rostered in competitive leagues.
If Capps gets/stays healthy, this is a very good bullpen. My concern is the starters are so awful that they have no choice but to burn them out, so I'm really leery of what might happen to some of these guys after the AS break.

Please correct me if you have a differing opinion, but I think the team bringing the Schimpf/Spangenberg battle to 3b is a boon for Schimpf's chances. He was great at 3B last year.

Also, any local word on Dickerson's injury?

Dickerson went to see a specialist today. Schimpf, if healthy, will be the guy at 3b if Solarte can make the switch. Spang has had a good spring and might make a push.

as for the BP, they'll keep a couple of starters like Cosart and or Friedrich for that purpose. they also have Bethancourt who will now be avail to go a couple of innings.

They are certainly fine and rosterable. Note that my original comment was "rostering a Padre SP is probably worse than just having a blank spot this year."

Exactly. The rotation is a vast wasteland of despair and deadly ratios. However, the offense has some upside and the bullpen isn't bad. They won't be winning a lot of games, but they may not lose too many in the late innings.

They still say he's going to be fine for opening day, but he's still not in the line up. I'm monitoring this pretty closely.

Bad break for Dickerson. Backs are always a bad deal.

                    • Is there any clear pattern emerging in the OF. A bunch of these guys are worth something if they get PT.

So, Alex Dickerson or Manuel Margot? Both in handcuffs? Obviously, current injuries matter, but think of May and beyond.

May and beyond, it's renfroe, Margot and Dickerson. Blash will most likely come back to earth or be dealt as he's not in the future plans. Jankowski is a solid fourth option, but his speed makes him valuable especially in nl onlys.

My only concern will be Dickerson and his back. If it's a chronic situation, as backs can be, then Travis gets the full time gig.

                        • Agreed. I don't see Blash more than an end gamer at best. Jankowski OTOH I can see him getting 20 plus SB depending on how much PT he gets.

Jankowski had 30 SBs in just 350 ABs last year, so he should easily get 20 SBs.

Don't disagree with that but he does K alot so his BA might suffer leading to a lack of PT which why I'm somewhat conservative. Given the Padres OF injuries and team new direction it wouldn't surprise me to see him getting over 400 ABs. Regardless he is a definite buy for the SB he can provide.

I expect Jankowski to get 400-450ABs and >30 SBs
