yeah, any ray of light we had just 7 days ago has gone bye-bye with dropping 3 out of 4 to the Brewers and a three game sweep by the Phils. This is now a dumpster fire

The Brewer series was a brutal display of baseball.
I'm just here for the baseball.

Mets have been around 7 years longer, and don't have a true no-no either - Johan Santana allowed a double that was called foul, and they were still working on a replay challenge system so it's technically in the books. I have a funny feeling the Mets might get a real one or two in the next 5 years, though

Preller said he'd start. Melvin must have other ideas :P

BTW the PTBNL is rumored to be on the rangers 40 man roster and ML ready...Leonys Martin? Profar?

I would wager that there's no chance that they get a player of that caliber for what amounts to a 4th OFer. Both guys still have ceilings too high to be included in a small deal like this.

Agree. I was thinking Chi Chi - I just can't see his stuff playing in Texas long term. Ryan Rua could be another. Or maybe Kyle Blanks is going to find housing in the San Diego area again...

Jankowski called up. Could be a good NL-only speed option rest of the way, sounds like he's going to get the opportunities...

So, yeah, some random 27 year old middle reliever.
That's a far cry from Profar or Martin -- or even Chi Chi. So basically all the Padres got was out of Venable's last two months under contract, or about $1m.
