What is the catcher breakdown? I imagine mostly split between Nola and Alfaro. Or is Campusano getting some PT?

For now, Nola/Alfaro and don't count out a move that involves Campusano. I'd be pretty surprised if Campy makes the team simply because the Padres need the roster spot for an OF type.

Like I mentioned, Padres may have a 25% turnover before opening day (tomorrow) so if there are 5 more players added to this roster who aren't on it now....

Gore, Campusano and Krol sent down as well as both the guys they got in return for Caratini. That leaves a spot in the BP--and another on the roster for a hitter or pitcher. Gore should be up soon enough.

No way they give up Larnach, IMO. Upside too high. Kepler is another story, good power, mediocre BA, and a little speed...

Giving up Rogers would not be a killer, but it would be a situation where the Twins bullpen could be a mess.

Why on earth would Minnesota trade their closer for Paddack, a guy the Padres simply cant give away...for the same reason all his fantasy managers in keeper leagues cant give him away. It is pretty clear he was a flash in the pan. This makes just so little sense, sounds exactly like the nonsense rumors with the Mets taking hosmer/paddack for Dom Smith.

Paddack has the talent, it's his head that needs work. Remember Mat Latos? Paddack reminds me a lot of him.

FWIW Paddack and Rogers had very similar WAR last season. Chris had an FIP and xFIP under 4 so he's not as worthless as you're making him out to be. That said--I've never been a big fan of his.

But I have to agree, the Padres make a lot of noise in one direction and pull a stealth move no one expects (Manaea).


My guess is Laureano will be a Padre come tomorrow morning. :P

I guess I take it all back....this trade is gonna happen. Taylor Rogers should be worth 50% or better in NL leagues in faab. Pagan rumored to be in the deal as well. I will say that I didnt realize Rogers was in the final year of his contract vs. several controllable years for Paddack. Still the Twins are trying to compete now and just blew up their bullpen.

Twins are a confusing team. Sign Correa and then this trade. Pagan is a mediocre pitcher and Paddack had a slight UCL strain last season. Rogers was the best player in this deal. If he is going to be a FA then why not pay him?

What are they going to do with Brent Rooker. He has some pop and I liked him for and gamer for a buck last year. Does he get any playing time? 250 abs?
