AL trade help please.

AL only 5x5 12 teams keeper F contracts free until activated. B contracts played out or extended $5 per year. A contract have two years left or can be extended after next season.


Pitching is thin in this years auction. Shields is a complete gamble as is lost if signed out of the AL. Cubs looming. Petricka at $6 is a bargain if he closes or even splits the closer role. Martin is probably $5 under priced. Weaver is good value. But are those two plus the gambles enough for Springer? Springer has power and speed, but bad BA.

I have been offered this for Springer. It just feels like it is not enough.

No way should you even consider this deal until Shields signs, IMO.

I don't like Weaver at all. I'm very skeptical that Petricka gets to close, at least out of the gate. I also think Travis has pretty good value. Wouldn't shock me if that's what he's really after.

Trading just Springer for Martin + a sweetener isn't outrageous. But I don't think Shields is that guy even if he signs.
