A.J. Burnett back with the Pirates

on a one-year deal for $8.5M. He turned down the $12.75M option from Phillies to get the hell out of there and back to a team that is strong defensively.

I like it for the Pirates. They need him in the clubhouse with Russell Martin gone. AJ was hurt last year, so assuming he gets his hernia fixed, going back to a pitcher's park and a good defense should help him bounce back. Even with a freaking hernia he threw 200 innings last year. Which nobody on the Pirates did.

Yeah, if anything he should give the Pirates middle relievers a rest every fifth day.
