I love Martinez, but I think Detroit could have spent their money more wisely. For next season he probably fit their needs best but long term I would rather have paid Sandoval.

Seems like a very Ruben Amaro move. The Mets must be loving their Cuddyer signing now.

The Tigers are ready to win now and made a move that reflects that. Clearly this won't pan out in terms of WAR per $ or whatever, but Martinez is significantly better than a guy like Cuddyer.

Agree, though his skillset may well age pretty well now that he's not behind the plate.
