Another Cuban star defects - other recent FA foreign players

Rotoworld reports that Cuban star SS Jose Fernandez has defected. Source cited was Fox Sports' Jon Paul Morosi on Twitter. Fernandez was ranked #2 by BA among foreign players in the 2013 WBC. So much for the idea of allowing Cuban stars to earn money playing in Mexico and Japan to stem the tide of defectors.

He joins Yasmani Tomas, Hector Oliveira and Yoan Moncada as recent Cuban defectors likely to draw interest from MLB teams. Korean League star Jung-Ho Kang is expected to join them next month as another desirable foreign player. Still another foreign player, Kenta Maeda, is expected to remain in Japan for another year.
