Benson is a former first-round pick from the 2016 draft class who hit.279/.426/.522 with 17 homers, 45 RBI and 16 stolen bases in 89 games at Triple-A in 2022.

The 24 year-old Benson could be a post-hype prospect worth keeping an eye on.
I saw this earlier and looked at his minor league stats (as an NL-only guy in my local league, I was not familiar with him):

    542 games
    2,278 PA
    1,881 AB
    .222 BAvg
    .350 OBP
    .443 SLG

    417 Hits
    88 2B
    23 3B
    94 HR
    86 SB
    22 CS

    352 BB
    680 K

Pros: He can take a walk, with an OBP that trends at least 100 - 120 points higher than his BAvg. He steals bases at an 80% clip and has decent power

Cons: He cannot hit and strikes out in 30% of his plate appearances

Could he “really” be a post-hype sleeper? He had a very nice AAA season, then went .182/.250/.200 in his 61 PA cup of coffee.

Big hulking LH power guy that given an opportunity in that ballpark could light it up.

A project; feels like a LH version of Aquino that hopefully ends a bit better.

      • If he feels like a LH version of Aquino that hopefully ends a bit better, that sounds like someone to keep an eye on.....for the sole purpose of bidding thatrogue up who LOVES Aquino. Or maybe loved, maybe he's finally over him now.

Wow, I find it difficult to hide the fact that I'm not surprised.

            • Michael Fulmer has reached an agreement with the Cubs. He could be the favorite for saves there.

Aquino signed to play in Japan, so he has saved me from myself. And I will probably enter the draft with no open OF slots so with the Reds having 67 potential OF candidates, I will leave Benson to you.

Yuck. Peralta is the very definition of league average, and this will likely take away playing time from Miguel Vargas. Seems like a strange move.

                    • Andrew Chafin signs with the Diamondbacks for 1 year/$6.5 million. He looks like the early favorite for saves in Arizona.

I was hoping he'd be a starter this year but that seems unlikely on the Marlins. I guess there is a very remote chance he closes at some point, but ore likely, he is a lefty specialist that will be helpful for the Marlins, but not for fantasy. I liked him as a sleeper before this deal. I guess there is a super remote chance they let him try to start and he and Luzardo form the duo the A's hoped they would be. That would be fun.

Marlins definitely want to purge as much swing and miss from their roster as they possibly can
