HDID: Mixed Keep Forever

I should remind you of our keeper rules (also in earlier posts). We must keep 2-4 in rounds 1-4 and can keep 0-4 in rounds 19-22.

Strasburg is a forever keeper in rounds 19-22. I mused about moving him last offseason with concerns about his durability but the 'pen shot that down. :P He might be attractive to a rebuilder.

Severino was a FA pickup, so I can keep him in the 10th round next year, but he would only qualify as a top 4 keeper if traded.

I think offering Rutschman/Strasburg and a swap of draft picks is my best play. I'm more concerned about what I should be looking for coming back, i.e., what are my weaknesses?

Ok, but I'm probably not going to be able to flip IR guys. I can wait and see on Stras and Severino but I think I got my answer that I should look to upgrade Ross/Hill.

Thanks - he was great last year and I traded for him at the deadline. However, last season seems to be the outlier.

Well...there's been some signs of life the last three weeks, but that stinker against the Pale Hose sticks out. OTOH, he looks relatively unaffected by the Spider Tack ban. I'd go as far as to say "it depends who else is out there".

Odorizzi, Smyly, Thompson, Gilbert, Stripling, Sandoval are the FA with the best ratios/K rates. I'm not sure any of them are clear upgrades.

Odorizzi is the toughest read on that list - he's been brilliant the last three weeks, but has had pretty easy opposition.

I'm working on a trade. I asked for Gurriel, he will only give up Donaldson. I could ask for Gallo instead and I'm also getting Tapia.

Donaldson would be my backup 3B and I could start him or Wander at DH.

So, pick two: Donaldson, Gallo, Tapia

I don't trust Donaldson to stay healthy, so I'd go with Gallo and Tapia. Plus, I think you're a BA league, so Tapia balances out Gallo's BA and gets you some wheels.

I initially offered 8th for 10th then added 10th for 12th. My even picks will be high and his will be low so there is value in it for him.

What's going on with Yelich? Will he have value this year? Would he be a top 4 keeper over Darvish, J-Ram, Merrifield, JDM in a keep forever?

Tough call. JDM is four years older, but Yelich...well, it's not been good for two partial seasons so far. I don't see how you keep him over those four if you're in win-now mode next year.
